So when we got back from the MK show and our brief but fab stay in Anchor Bay, California, I said I was going to include some photos of Mar Vista chickens.  But I did not deliver said chickens.

Tonight I will make it right.

Behold the majestic chickens of Mar Vista!

Not only are they gorgeous (as chickens go), they produce the most wonderful eggs, which were delivered to our porch every evening just so:

And though eggs are not on my favored foods list these days, I succumbed while on vacation.  I mean look at them.  They are truly a thing of beauty.

One day my husband was out in the main yard trying to capture the souls of said chickens by transforming them into digital images.

This particular encounter was a stand-off, I think . . .

I’m not sure this hen didn’t suck my husband’s soul clean out of his body.

Then again, I could be exaggerating.

Finally, if you ever visit Mar Vista, you’ll be greeted at the gate by this impressive totem:

Let this be a warning to you, oh feckless souls . . .

. . . you be in the country now . . .  RELAX OR PERISH!!!

BUT SERIOUSLY.  If you ever need to get away from everything and want only to commune with the wild country of the northern California coast, stay in a charming cottage with incredible views of flora, fauna, and all creation, enjoy the wonderful hospitality and kindness of the nicest proprietors you could ever imagine, and hang out with a fine assortment of farm animals (and a really large, sweet old dog), check out the cottages at Mar Vista.  I’ve added a link to their website for your convenience.

Late it is, tomorrow a work day and all that . . .

In the meantime, may all souls be at peace . . .
